Alien: Covenant Trailer Reaction Mashups

Alien: Covenant Trailer Reaction Mashups. absolutely shitty movie. While Prometheus was a near perfect film, Alien Covenant was an absolute turd! Really not what I was expecting. No story line just blood and gore. Shame on you Ridley Scott! Fine as a mellow horror type movie but well below the bar for Aliens. Expect moronic decisions at every turn and predictable and shallow story line. Worth it see in theaters for the sounds system but don't get your hopes up for any depth or quality in character develop or dialogue.

An entertaining and satisfactory tape for the fans of the franchise but that does not prevent that it is a tape full of clichés and very predictable although it would also emphasize the performances of the cast mainly Fassbender. It definitely returned me to the exciting and scary action of the original Alien and its sequel, Aliens. It also answered many of the questions that Prometheus left behind, and it makes a nice little bridge towards the original classic. While the acting is fine, the story line is incomplete (having to go online to learn what happened after Prometheus) for the set up to Covenant which itself adds more confusion and screws up the timeline sequence even more. Both Prometheus and Covenant are hot messes of confusion and poor story thought through. The next (and hopefully final) Alien installment needs to close the loop with the original Alien and let us hope Mr. Ridley Scott puts together a better group of writers.

Alien: Covenant was directed by Ridley Scott (Gladiator, The Martian) and serves as a sequel to Prometheus and part of a prequel series to the Alien franchise. When a colony ship takes a detour to a remote planet, they don't find what they were looking for.

I didn't care much for Prometheus. The butting heads between Scott and the studio heads resulted in a mixed bag of disappointment. However, Alien: Covenant is better in every aspect. Ridley Scott has always been good at creating shots, and there are some fantastic sequences in his sequel - that shower scene shown in the previews did not disappoint! Katherine Waterson and Danny McBride gave solid performances as well, but the standout of this film is Michael Fassbender. Having to play two distinct roles is hard, but I found the best moments of this movie to be when Fassbender was having a conversation between both of his characters.

The biggest flaw of this movie is the size of the cast. At the beginning of the film, there are over a dozen scientists setting off on this colonization adventure. A few of them, like Waterson and McBride, are fleshed-out and have character. The rest, however, only served as bodies to kill off by the xenomorph in brutal fashion. As great as the visuals were in these instances, there was no tension when a death would occur because it was foreshadowed in an all-too-familiar way. NOTHING GOOD HAPPENS WHEN YOU LEAVE THE GROUP!

Overall, I had a fun time watching Alien: Covenant. While it isn't a great movie, it was a bright spot in what turned out to be a let-down of a month in May. Fans of the franchise or space-horror movies should check this one out while it's in theaters!

Wish I would have waited for DVD or Stream instead of wasting my money. The end of Prometheus moved in a direction I was curious about. Yes, let's go find that advanced alien civilization that created humans and seeks information. Two minutes of that advanced alien civilization before the inferior human built Android killed them all. This was a complete disappointment! So many promising directions this movie could have explored but it's the same movie that you have seen the last 20 years.

Before I start this review, I would like to give a fair notice to those reading and say that I am going to explain why this film is bad and infuriating in the tamest and fair way possible, without divulging too much into the 'fanboy' mindset of why it's bad. Because I'll be honest and upfront, I absolutely love and adore the Alien franchise Ok? I do. I get influence from the first two films than any other franchise or film to date, and Ridley Scott is a filmmaker I highly respect from Blade Runner to Gladiator and more recently his 2014 film: The Martian. Hell, even despite all the faults I had with Prometheus, I can admire what Scott and the hack need writer David Lindelof were trying to go for and admire the self-contained story being attempted. But describing this film though...oh boy, it's gonna be a long rant so bare with me as I explain why.

Ok so...the "true prequel" to Alien (if you even wanna call it that as it's not even remotely close), titled 'Alien: Covenant' is finally out. And after being hugely disappointed after Prometheus and uninterested by any of the marketing for this film, I wasn't going into it with too many high expectations. But, that didn't mean I was willing to give it a chance. And after watching, I can confirm I was right to not give it a chance. Because 'Alien: Covenant' is not only a sad excuse for an Alien prequel but a sad excuse for a horror film. And was actually quite possibly the most infuriating experiences I've had watching a movie since 'Suicide Squad'. Yeah...it was just, that bad.

And

while I can certainly say the film does very little things decently such as: Having a at least decently acted cast, the 'David' character storyline having it's shining moments time to time, and it's shot at least really well given it's a Ridley Scott production and having Water Hill as producer again, that is sadly where all my compliments stop because the rest is just nothing but negatives. A poorly constructed and completely rehashed story that never earns it or is even bothered to be done cleverly with, weak as hell characters that offer nothing to them but to be used as slapstick fodder and rip-offs of other characters we've seen but with nothing interesting to offer  surprisingly dated and awful special effects despite well introverted sets, the Alien being forced in there and offering nothing to enhance the story but remind people that 'Alien' existed and it was well respected for a reason, new ideas that are never explored enough, an ending so over the top and frustrating that I can't believe it bothered trying to end on a cliffhanger, and so many more issues that without referencing spoilers or going off on a tangent I'm just gonna leave off here.

So overall, Alien: Covenant didn't just infuriate me as a fan, but as someone that tries to fairly judge films on their own merits, it failed even at that. And I have to sadly and honestly say that Ridley Scott has officially killed this franchise for me, and now has my reassurance that he killed it and he approved of all of this to happen. I'm glad critics and some audiences enjoyed this entry and I give more power to you, but this just straight up pissed me off to no end and has now officially killed my interest for any sequels to come. And I am heartbroken to say this.

Prometheus had a great thing going, in giving these horrifying sequences of events a reason to be watched other than a perverted desire to see people being brutally killed. It was a mix of Star Gate and Alien, and while it was not perfect, it was new and interesting.

Sadly, some of the 'fans' did not like it. I guess they just wanted another Alien movie. And that's what they got, now. While I am not happy with the scrapping of the Prometheus storyline, I don't mean to /complain/. At this point, I just hope Ridley Scott is content with his own work. It's unfortunate that the artist had to abandon his own vision to appease his customers. I wouldn't wish him to do it again.

That said, it is technically well made. It is also a tragedy, more-so than any Alien film before it. It still does tread (lightly) on some deeper themes, and its value as entertainment will depend on its direct sequel; What we have in this movie is the first two acts of a three-act play.

Alien Covenant: What People Think of It?

What People Think of Alien Covenant? Please see this before you watch this film.

Bore, Gore, and more bore. Covenant is a long-winded rehash of previous similar titles, Prometheus included. A series of scenes in which characters with more brawn than brains throw themselves into the meat-grinder. The gorge is spectacular and in terms of big-screen action, Covenant does well, though it should be noted most of the violence is a direct result of frustratingly moronic decisions as well as a general disregard for simple, yet potentially life-saving protocols. So if you're after a brutal murder-fest then look no further, but if you're at all interested in an intricate, lore-filled, complex and tense Alien film then re-watch the original instead.
It's better than Alien Resurrection & AVP series. Though coming from Ridley Scott I was highly disappointed with it. My only hope is that this movie was a setup for what happens next in the series. News articles state at least two other movies will be made by him. Fingers crossed. Spoiler- If David copied himself to Walter why didn't he have the memory of the log cabin? He had Walter's access code. Ridley should have shown that it was possible for them to do it. Also, it may have been better to just let her fall asleep not knowing.
Who doesn't love seeing alien movies? It just seems like we saw the same movie as Prometheus. A bunch of "smart people" make really stupid mistakes and then an Android betrays them. I can't believe it has a rating past 30%. To each their own I guess. I enjoyed "Prometheus" more, but "Covenant" is a welcome addition to the Alien franchise. While it has everything to do with the origins of the Xenomorph we have all come to know and love (and fear), they don't get a whole lot of screen time. This movie takes a different approach than all the others and places heavy emphasis on artificial intelligence and its capabilities--Well, that's all I can say without giving too much away. It's definitely a more thought-provoking film than you would expect if you don't mind the change in focus being androids instead of aliens.
Really enjoyed it. I like how it tied into the previous movies. IT was a bit slow at first but that was to build characters and it actually worked because you started to care about some of the characters they were very likable.
Watched it for the second time today. It was better than the first time, I was sitting further back and could really take in the whole picture and just like the first time I didn't touch my popcorn, the immersion was real! I like it a lot, very well made with the music, special effects and editing being pretty spot on. It is more of an action thriller than horror but that's totally ok. It doesn't answer a lot of questions, mostly raising new ones letting me fill in the gaps and therefore remains mysterious.
Fassbender is awesome. The ending is a little too dark for my taste though, but that's part of this franchise. Definitely getting it on Bluray, watching Prometheus and this back to back should be pretty sweet.
Ridley Scott really expanded upon the alien universe and gave it all a deeper meaning, that's for sure. I like it, feels fresh but in the end, it becomes the same "kill or gets killed, blows it out the airlock" type of alien movie.
Now, a lot of people are complaining about the origin of the xenon that is supposedly revealed in this movie and I just want to say that if you look at the Xeno that appears in this film, it is totally different than the classic in all it's life stages. So no, the origin of the original xenon has not been revealed yet.

Alien: Covenant - Why Should You Watch?

Before going to see any film I used to find what the most of the people says about a film. Otherwise, all the money and time will be drained into the sewerage. So why should you watchAlien: Covenant? According to public opinion, it's a good movie overall. Read what are they saying.

I don't understand all the negative reviews? They almost made me not go watch this movie, then I remembered everyone is over opinionated nowadays that it didn't matter. The movie is good! I had no idea it was a sequel to Prometheus. Seeing Walter back from Prometheus was awesome! Overall I loved this movie and it had me thinking about it for a while. I highly recommend it and have nothing negative to say about it.
As a hardcore fan of the franchise, I feel like this was the perfect next step to bring what started in Prometheus closer to Alien. My only complaint, and it's minor, is all of the creature actors and some practical effects were replaced with CGI.
I would describe this sequel to Prometheus as repulsive, thrilling and boring storywise. Alien: Covenant is not better than Prometheus but definitely worth seeing. Not a bad movie. Visually stunning. Fassbender is the only character worth anything. Terribly forgettable. No real terror or suspense. The climax will leave you wanting more. The ending was kinda pointless. I'll see the third installment but I'm no longer excited about the prospect.
So I do think Prometheus is a better movie. As usual Ridley Scott has an amazing production value and the ships and vehicles and space suits all look a fantastic and top notch. The issue is they used CGI on the alien which is fine for the grown alien but I literally laughed out loud when the baby alien came out the guy's chest....... it just looked so bad. the other issue is the ending. I really wish they wouldn't have told us (trying to be spoiler free) and would have ended it with you guessing if it was or wasn't him.... Then my group would have probably been talking about that after instead of how bad the alien CGI was. Just my opinion definitely see it if you were interested!!
Much potential, but fell short of becoming a classic. No real new ground is created and the film also mostly eradicates/disregards the events of Prometheus, instead of building upon it. Still entertaining, very much a summer popcorn flick, but falls short of being thought-provoking sci-fi.
This movie is a double-edged sword the plot was pretty weak that weighed down the amazing action sequences and the ending was pretty predictable but it is average and rewatchable based mostly because of its intense action and amazing shots it felt more like a filler movie is the Alien saga it'll be interesting where it picks up next
1. The new Xenomorphs in the movie are known as Neomorphs. In the beginning, there is 2 of these. However as the movie chugs along - one of them seemingly never appears again. Being curious, I headed over to the Alien wiki - and read that allegedly one of the Neomorphs died in the Wheat Field scene - however having watched the movie, I didn't see that. It looked to me like that Neomorph managed to scurry away from the bullets - but allegedly it did not. If in fact, the Neomorph died in that scene, it was done in such a bad way that many watchers couldn't see it that way. I have acquired the movie again, and rewatched the scene multiple times - and I do agree on the director intended for it to die there - he shot in such a way that visually anybody with half a brain cell would assume it scurried away. When it 'dies' it is already running away and about to be obscured by tall grass - and it takes a few hits and then the camera pans to another scene almost immediately. You see nobody or indication of death, the Neomorph doesn't even appear to slump in the grass. Overall the director should have had the wit to show the body - even though they vacate the wheat field moments later when they are saved from the second Neomorph. Seriously - 1 second of footage showing a corpse would have saved me from waiting for the entire movie for it to show up - only to be left scratching my head. And - as anybody Alien fan will know - these Morphs can take a heck amount of bullets before being felled - so I had no logical reason to assume it died from maybe all of 4 bullets out of 200 fired making a connection.
2. The movie is 20 years before the original - and makes a huge, huge error in making David the creator of Xenomorphs. You see - when they were first discovered in the first movie - it was in a FOSSILIZED ship - in fact, the dead space jockey was also referred to in such a manner - meaning it was ancient, and therefore the Xeno origins should be ancient - however, this is not the case. Instead, we're now expected to believe they're 20 years old.
We do know we can expect another film, as the movie's iteration of Xenomorphs are not yet the ones we are familiar with, they are largely missing the biomechanical details of their later brethren. I do believe this is directly related to the final scene, where David chokes up some Facehugger embryos, rather than them growing in an egg - it is likely that through some space voodoo, this means they have gained mechanical aspects from David - and he will use those 2 face huggers elusively to turn the species into what we know it to be.
There is only one possible way to write themselves out of this hole now - and it is that in the next movie David will HAVE to encounter another Engineer settlement. Not only that he will HAVE to procure another working Engineer ship - OR the Engineers will have to try to escape with eggs, somehow - overall it's a really big mess and all of that that still fails to explain the ancient nature of the ship in the classic Alien
I'm also puzzled about the eggs in general - we know David is not capable of birthing eggs lol - he can hold embryos, but he obviously is not the one birthing eggs the size of a human - which brings me to Covenant - we also have no idea where those eggs in the movie came from - we know eggs are birthed by Queens, but neither movie has a Queen. The next movie could indeed have one to birth the eggs of the new generation, but it seems like a hole in the plot to me.
They have created a sloppy mess in plotline - and they CAN fix it, but there's very limited direction for them to take and thus the next movie will be a lot more predictable and will have to drop the mystery aspect Prometheus and Covenant had going on for them.

Alien: Covenant 2017 Story & Analysis

On one level, this is an effective film with a few good scares and decent gory moments which even manage to invert and nod at the classic scene in the first Alien; but it is also a Ridley Scott film and so while it is technically and visually stunning as always, one also expects more than simply the retreat that we have here. As slick and well made as it is, what?lacking is originality, as the narrative follows a far too familiar plotting and pacing in which anyone who has seen the Alien films or any of the subsequent knock-offs (the recent Life for example) will see the twist and turns coming a mile away.

When the inevitable gruesomeness happens, it just doesn?t have the same shocking effect. It doesn't?t help that the new batch of characters are fairly disposable, underwritten and often also irritating. As for Michael Fassbender, doing double duty here as androids David and Walter, his cold and creepy portrayals are perfect, with a few nuances thrown in to differentiate between the two; but he is lumbered with ponderous and borderline pretentious dialogue when perhaps less is more (and more effective ? as the more the film explains, the less convincing it seems to be). All the God/creator talk mumble-jumble ultimately feels like the filmmakers trying too hard to justify these prequels? existence. Contrivances and inconsistencies (and random plot-driven alien gestation periods) aside, I did enjoy the film but I want to like it more, and in the end, I find myself faced with reviewing 2 films here: a mainstream space-horror-slasher film that does the job and a Ridley Scott film that doesn't?t fare as well.

Laughably bad characterisation, bad pacing, heavy-handed Christ metaphors every ten seconds, messy action scenes, a fairly ridiculous plot and a complete disregard for even the original Alien film.If you liked Prometheus, this film literally bombs any leftover questions from that film and practically retcons it out of the franchise. If you liked Alien, this film get pretty much every aspect of the established Xenomorph lore wrong and denotes the creature to a mindless trope as well as presenting it with computer graphics that look like they belong in a film from a decade ago (there's also a 6" tall, fully formed Xenomorph being told to mimic a Christ pose and actually doing it - we're practically in Space Balls territory here).

If you just like sci-fi or even just movies, then expect even more ridiculous actions from practically every character in this film and good luck keeping them apart as no-one gets any introduction, background or character development. The film also later turns into a space slasher but lacks any suspense or sense of danger and every kill is telegraphed several minutes in advance, making them just another scene you have to get through. On the positive side, spaceships and suits are handled well, look and sound great and Michael Fassbender and Danny McBride (surprisingly) are quite on-spot, even though they're dealing with a mess of a script. The film is a laughable mess that manages to insult and taunt both the legacy of the original Alien films as well as retroactively make Ridley Scott's first Alien look like a happy accident. Avoid at all cost.

Saw the original Alien-best scary movie ever. Saw Alien Covenant last night.-worst scary movie ever. The plot is so predictable and the whole movie is a retread of every Alien movie idea. How many times are you going to have the embryo punch through someone's chest? How many times is the robot going to turn on the humans to protect the wonderful Alien species? This movie was a waste of money. Huge Alien fan here and Alien Covenant stands as my 3rd favorite Alien movie below the two original films Alien covenant has Blood, guts, and suspense and great scenes with twists if you don't take the movie too seriously or nitpicky about everything you will definitely enjoy this film.

The movie was predictable, inconsistent, poorly paced, terribly rushed at parts, and just kind of pretentiously dull. Changes made to pre-established characters felt like they were handwaved for convenience. Some characters felt like imitations of previous characters in the franchise.  Visually stunning and Fassbender - as always - is brilliant. But Alien Covenant delivers one take home message, 'humans are too stupid to live'. If you thought the crew was dumb in Prometheus, prepare yourself for new vistas of dumbness that make even the Prometheus crew look like Mensa candidates.all and all this wasn't alien. This was Micheal Fassbender playing Gollum with alien paint on it. Not the worst in the series but a long haul away from the first two films.

Alien Covenant: My Personal Review

I remember going to Berkely to see Alien when it premiered. Every new film in the franchise added to the story of the Alien. Prometheus really pushed it forward by giving some promising clues to the origin. I think I liked it more than most Alien fans did. I felt a little cheated with Covenant because it withheld information. David had lots of time to learn about the Engineers, yet the very little information was forthcoming. Prometheus gave us a lot of questions, and the answers to those questions were left unanswered in Covenant. This isn't Lost or Twin Peaks. Questions shouldn't be compounded with more questions. Do we wait until all the films are made then buy the set on DVD?

I love the Alien franchise. I love Prometheus. I love Alien (1979), I didn't like AlienS (just simply not a fan of James Cameron direction) I hated Alien 3 (because of story and art direction it took that is completely out of art style of the franchise) and Alien 4 (this movie was good on art direction but was just silly). The Alien: Covenant was frustrating. And in my opinion, this happened because Fox Studios decided to reduce their risks and make a dumbed-down blockbuster that has Aliens (xenomorphs) in it. Even though this potentially could have been a good continuation of Prometheus that answers questions asked in Prometheus and the film that could connect this two stories of Alien (1979) and Prometheus. But only if Fox Studios were to take that risk. Don't get me wrong it is not a bad movie. It has beautiful visuals. But there were parts in this movie that can't be ignored.

Good things in Covenant: The first part of the story was good. You can see attempts to establish conflicts in the crew of the Covenant but later all these conflicts fade away and look unnecessary. Visuals are fantastic, you can see the direction of Ridley Scott in each shot of this movie. It looks gorgeous. And I should also mention that audio and music in Covenant were great.

Bad things in Covenant: Story. After the first part of this movie, it starts to look like the story was written by a child that tries to answer hard questions about life and evolution and at the same time, this child is forced to make as much plot twists as possible. But it wasn't the plot twists that made Alien (1979) such a good movie, it was tension and suspense that made first Alien movie. The fear of deadly horror that is somewhere near and there is nowhere to run away from it. But Covenant with its plot twists and gore looks like Slasher B-movie. With cliche such as "I will go away from the group even though I know, there is a killer wandering around" If you loved Alien (1979) then you will most likely see this film as an insult to the Alien. And if you at least liked Prometheus and expect some revelations about it in this film, you will be highly disappointed.

Alien: Covenant Movie Trailer Review

Ridley Scott's follow-up to 2012's Prometheus definitely looks to be a great addition to the mythos of the Alien franchise, tying the connections closer and also creating anticipation for a fifth main entry by Neill Blomkamp in the coming years. I loved Alien from 79. Then Cameron made a great sequel. Then went all downhill using Poo-Pourri from there. Prometheus was horrible, admit it. The story fell apart early and then I was just waiting for Theron to show us some,, you know, and then waiting for the stitches to come apart from the DoItYourself cesarean chic.

Obviously, the film hasn't come out here--and I'm only rating this quasi-prequel sequel 4 stars because I don't want this pre-review to seem any more presumptuous than any rating at this point will make it. However, I'm giving it a premature high rating because I believe 1) the first Prometheus didn't receive the full accolades it richly deserves and 2) the overall story arc is exceptionally thoughtful, Intelligent and imaginative--especially by contemporary cinematic (not just genre-specific) standards. I'm talking about fully dimensional characters; a sophisticated, well-written storyline and a visually inspiring feast. The greatest accolade I can note about this and indeed all Ridley Scott films is that their narrative depth always radiates with great intelligence and artistic genius, rather than merely trying to cheap-shot the audience as a trendy, commercial product that will be forgotten in a year or two.

The description of this movie is wrong. This is Prometheus 2 and the description is for "The Martian" with Matt Damon. Flixster, can you guys fix this, please? But this NEW film actually appears to have a new premise--A diverse crew, lands or crashes somewhere I can imagine, gets infected, and then the crew minus -1,-1,-1, etc. etc etc. What happened Mr. Scott, this WAS your brainchild?

Alien: Covenant Movie Of The Sword Cast

When are they going to update this from PG-13 to R? It's not PG-13...clearly from the restricted trailer and Ridley Scott's interviews beforehand saying it was going to be a "hard R" movie. I couldn't be more excited!!! This franchise has always been my favorite movies of all time. Even the horribly done ones that weren't by Ridley Scott or James Cameron!! Hollywood is in remake mode.

The story is the same as the others. Everyone dies to expect ONE, who will that be?...This will be a flop. Calm yourself, people. The rating posted here is incorrect. According to Ridley Scott, this will be "a pretty hard R." Supposedly it will have a scene that makes the original chest burster scene look like a Pixar movie in comparison. Ridley Scott's follow-up to 2012's Prometheus definitely looks to be a great addition to the mythos of the Alien franchise, tying the connections closer and also creating anticipation for a fifth main entry by Neill Blomkamp in the coming years. why does this have the description of the movie "The Martian"?
